Tidzaonanji Women Cooperative
Project Launch: 9-13-19
The Tidzaonanji Women Cooperative will install a solar-powered water pump to irrigate farmland in the community. This system will simplify the process of maintaining crops and will allow women to expand the amount of land they can cultivate. This will support women in growing crops throughout the year, thereby improving their yields and profits. The project is expected to benefit 200 households.
Project Update: 1-23-20
Tidzaonanji Women Cooperative has purchased and installed the solar irrigation pump replacing traditional treadle pumps the women were using. Group membership has grown from 40 to 55 adults, all of whom have been trained in the use and maintenance of the solar pump. At the time of reporting, the women have cleared and planted 3 acres of land with maize and green vegetables. The installation of this solar pump will enable the group to grow and harvest twice a year, improving household income and food security in the community.
