Project Launch:

A $500 grant from World Connect’s Kids to Kids Program in 2011 supported a Brigada Verde group in Los Miches, Dajabon in the Dominican Republic. Brigada Verde is a youth group that learns about the environment and implements project to improve the environment. With World Connect’s support Brigada Verde group ran trash clean-ups in the community, painted trash cans for different areas of the community and painted a wall mural with an environmental theme. These project benefitted the kids because they provided them with project planning and implementation skills. The community was inspired by the messages and creativity of the youth and these project created a sense of activism among the children in the community.
