Pig Farming to Support Health Service Delivery
Project Launch: 1-4-21
Kaliza Village Health Committee will implement a pig farming project to generate income that can support health service delivery at Kaliza Health Clinic in Dowa District. The community, led by the committee members, will construct a community kraal, procure pigs, and manage them based on training provided by veterinary officers. Once they mature, the pigs will be sold and the income generated will finance monthly visits from the nurse to the local clinic. Funds will also be used to procure materials needed at the facility. This will ensure that 1,183 people from 299 households have access to the needed health services, especially HIV testing and maternity services.
