Maternal Education App in Paraguay
Project Launch: 5-17-19
In Paraguay, high rates of child and maternal mortality are in part due to the lack of prenatal education and access to adequate health services. Ogami, a community-based organization established in 2016, is creating an app to address these challenges. The objective of the Kunumi app is to inform, educate, and accompany mothers and fathers during the process of pregnancy, childbirth, and the child’s first year of life. This free app offers information on health, nutrition, and general care. Parents can record the child’s weight, height, blood pressure, nutritional status, and other relevant information in the app. Parents will also have access to a georeferenced map of organizations including hospitals, health insurance providers, and nearby stores. The Kunumi app will help reduce the rates of maternal and neonatal deaths by increasing access to information and helping mothers through a healthy pregnancy.
