Installing accessible toilets and hand-washing at the Panyikworo Primary School in Uganda
Project Launch: 5-9-23
The project aimed at installing accessible toilets, hand-washing stations, and a girl’s changing room at the Panyikworo Primary School. The school currently has only 15 toilets for a student population of over 1,000 students, of whom 120 have a disability. Most toilets are very poor which threatens the health of the students and also discourages enrollment by new students. Activities will include construction of a 5 stance toilet, a girls changing room, installation of handwashing facilities and walkways and provision of hygiene supplies such as soap and toilet paper.
The new sanitation facilities are expected to provide comfort for the 120 children with diasbilities at the school, provide space for the girls to take care of their hygiene needs while at school and improve overall hygiene and sanitation at the school through the hygiene training provided by the project.
