Impact Sector: Education
Project Investment: $305.00
Project Launch:
Yo Creek Village is a Spanish-speaking village in the Orange Walk District of Belize. It has roughly 2,000 residents and is fortunate enough to have two primary schools in the village. Last summer, the village hosted a summer camp with the help of the Belize National Youth Chess Foundation that helped teach children ages 6-14 the game of chess. A $500 grant from World Connect’s Kids to Kids Program helped the chess program expand to meet demand. Children were bringing their friends to teach them how to play and there were not enough boards to go around. The Finding Friends From (Check)Mates program now has the supplies it needs to help all of the youth of Yo Creek who wish to learn the game of chess as well as build friendships with other youth through chess.Explore other Projects
