Ayimom Basic School ICT Center
Project Launch: 4-21-17
Our world is becoming more and more dependent on technology. It is important for today's students to be competent in computers to not only excel in school, but in their future careers. With the ambition of creating a space where students can practically learn computer literacy, alongside typing, researching, and other learning skills, Ayimom Basic School hopes to establish its own 20 machine computer lab. This project will be extremely beneficial to our community by helping our students use hands-on learning, creating pride in the small town, and preparing all members for the technological world.
Project Update: 6-5-17
After receiving the grant funds, the community organized the building of tables, installed the markerboard, and purchased the computers. A temporary ICT teacher is currently installing software and programs necessary for computer use. The computer lab is projected to officially open in June.
Final Report: 8-8-17
The technology center was formally commissioned by the Minister of Education in the district and now has regular classes during school hours as well as community-wide sessions open in the evening. Local leaders have determined how to establish small fees to cover maintenance, electricity, and security fees for the center.
