Art In Bani!
Year: 2008
Country: Dominican Republic
Project Status: Funded
Impact Sector: Education
Project Investment: $500.00
Project Launch:
The original proposal was alternated due to a surprise supply of art supplies from a neighboring college. Instead of buying supplies the grant went towards funding nine students to attend an art school in Bani once or twice a week. Tuition and transportation is included. The friendship continually growing between these nine students is remarkable. The grant enabled these students to enter a world that they would otherwise never be able to. Each one is exceptionally grateful. Fe y Alegria Espiritu Santo is an organization that oversees a high school and grammar school of 1,500 students. There is already an art program installed in the schools but with the lack of supplies it can hardly be called a proper class. With a $500 grant the high school art program would be able to buy materials such as paints, pencils, wax and other materials. Books with CD programs on lives and works of professional artists would expand the theory aspect of each class. The grant would give talented students the opportunity to go to Bani to study art. In addition, a scholarship could be given to the Art Teacher and 5 additional students. With a developed art program the students would be given the opportunity to appreciate the world of art and different prospect of what their future can hold.Explore other Projects
